Dr. Natalie Young is a nationally recognized veterinary pharmacist and healthcare leader known for advancing the role of pharmacy in animal medicine. As Clinical Veterinary Pharmacy Director for Vets Pets and Managing Partner of Companion Pharmacy, she leads innovative clinical and operational initiatives that strengthen medication safety, expand access to care, and elevate the standard of pharmaceutical practice for animal patients.

Dr. Young is among a small number of pharmacists to hold both Diplomate status through the Society of Veterinary Hospital Pharmacists and dual board certification as a Veterinary Pharmacist and in Sterile Compounding (BCSCP). She recently completed her service on the Specialty Council for the Board of Pharmacy Specialties, where she helped shape national standards and contributed to the development of the sterile compounding certification examination.

A trusted leader within the profession, Dr. Young has developed and accredited multiple veterinary pharmacy programs and has spent more than a decade in national service roles. She is a Past President and former Chairman of the Board of the American College of Veterinary Pharmacists and previously served as Compounding Chair for the American Pharmacists Association, where she continues to support policy and educational initiatives.

Deeply committed to education and workforce development, Dr. Young directs a veterinary pharmacy residency program in partnership with the UNC Chapel Hill’s Eshelman School of Pharmacy, serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council, and holds an appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Clinical Education. She is a frequent lecturer, preceptor, mentor, and a regular columnist for the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association.

Her clinical and educational expertise is widely recognized across the industry. Dr. Young speaks nationally for VetGirl, contributes to Clinician’s Brief, and serves as an expert reviewer for Plumb’s Veterinary Drugs. Licensed in more than a dozen states, her work focuses on expanding the role of veterinary pharmacy while improving clinical outcomes for animal patients nationwide.

A North Carolina native, Dr. Young is a graduate of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics and earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to entering pharmacy, she worked as a chemist, an experience that continues to shape her analytical approach to patient care and clinical problem-solving.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Young is often outdoors training for her next long-distance run or working on her latest Basset Hound rescue project. She is also an unapologetic fan of old-school hip hop.
